The impact of #MindYourSelfie

From 2016 to 2024, #MindYourSelfie Day helped to raise awareness about the importance of looking after our mental health.

Many familiar faces got involved over the years, sharing selfies, photographs, Instagram Reels, videos, stories, wellbeing tips and self-care practices, as well as showing us the places and things that spark joy and help them mind their minds.

We’ve been joined by U2’s Adam Clayton; Hozier; Steve Garrigan from Kodaline, RTÉ presenters Bláthnaid Treacy and Dáithí Ó Sé; and author Louise O’Neill, among others.

They, of course, are just some of the people from every corner of Ireland, and beyond, who joined us online and came together for a day to encourage conversations around mental health.

Since 2016, #MindYourSelfie Day has touched on a range of timely and important topics affecting people’s lives and wellbeing, such as:

The campaign also had a number of incredible milestones, such as:

  • Hitting some incredible numbers online: in 2021, we recorded over six million social media impressions, while 21,000 social media engagements were recorded in 2022.
  • Winning Best Information Campaign in the Public Relations Institute of Ireland's Annual Awards and being shortlisted for an Irish Healthcare Award for Best Use of Social Media in 2017.

We thank everyone who contributed to #MindYourSelfie over the years, and, while the campaign itself has come to an end, we know we can continue to work together to promote positive mental health with our families, friends, schools and communities in the spirit of #MindYourSelfie.
