Support for mental health awareness
With the festive season fast approaching, we are very grateful to AVOCA, who have created a unique candle and paper chains in support of our Walk in My Shoes (WIMS) initiatives.
Designed by AVOCA’s own creative team, the No 12 candle gives a warm, rich sandalwood scent, while the 'Make Your Own Paper Chains' kit offers a fun, family activity in creating colourful decorations for your home. Both can now be purchased online or in AVOCA stores, with proceeds from sales going towards our mental health education and awareness campaigns, events and resources.
Symbols of hope and friendship
“This year will mark a different festive period for a lot of young people and families across Ireland, and one which will bring home how important it is that we mind ourselves and our mental health. This is a message we are proud to share through this partnership with AVOCA. Shining the light of this candle or spending time making these paper chains are powerful symbols of the hope, love and friendship we can celebrate no matter where we are this Christmas and of the ways we can support each other through these unusual times.”
She continued: “We’ve had a huge demand for and response to all our activities in 2020, as young people, their families and teachers have moved through the challenges of COVID-19. From our #MindYourSelfie Day social media campaign and our week-long WIMS Live mental health programme, to our new WIMS School Supports and webinars for parents and teachers, we’ve seen people coming together to have open conversations about mental health and take action to protect and maintain their wellbeing. As we look into a new year, we know that these activities will be just as needed and valuable, and the generosity from AVOCA and everyone who supports this partnership will make an incredible difference in making them happen.”
Conscious gifting
“This Christmas, we are delighted to be partnering with the WIMS campaign, who are at the forefront of a very important conversation about mental health. This has been a particularly difficult year in terms of mental health and anxiety, and we want to help shine a light on a very important cause, while raising funds that will support the charity’s mental health services in local communities around Ireland."
